QA/SAC - Americas

Samples for the 60th Inter-laboratory Comparison Study (LIS 60) were mailed to all participants. Open the package promptly when it arrives and send a message to manager@qasac-americas.org to confirm the arrival. Make special note of leakage or damage to any of the three samples, if present.

Please report your measurements to the QA/SAC at your earliest opportunity but not later than 7 June 2019.

To report your results:

  1. Select Lab Manager Login on the QA/SAC Home Page. In the first field, enter your 6-digit LAB ID. In the second field, enter your E-mail address. Select Submit.
  2. You will receive an e-mail containing a link. Select this link and you will be logged into the QA/SAC Data Entry Dashboard.
  3. Select Verify lab content information. Use the drop-down boxes under Shipment received to report the date you received your LIS 60 samples. Next, check the Primary contact and Address where LIS packages are sent. Make changes as necessary. Under Emails, you can add or remove addresses. This is very important, because QA/SAC communications are sent only to the addresses listed here.
  4. Select Enter Measurements for Sample 1. Follow the instructions to enter (1st entry) and verify (2nd entry) your measurements. Select Submit. The two entries must match. Make corrections as needed. Only when the entries match will they be saved.
  5. Repeat Step 4 for Samples 2 & 3.
  6. Select Enter optional lab comments. Enter comments about laboratory methods, problems, or other relevant information. Select Submit. Lab comments are optional, so you could leave this space blank.
  7. Select Submit my data. Review your entries in the table that appears. Select Return to the Dashboard if corrections are needed. Otherwise, select Submit and your entries are saved. A table listing your entries and target values appears. Also, a report is sent to the e-mail addresses on record.

Alternative for reporting results:

Use the data entry form, an Excel file titled LIS60ReportForm. Instructions are included on the form. Enter your measurements and other information in the file, then save the file and e-mail it as an attachment to manager@qasac-americas.org. You will receive an e-mail confirming receipt of your results.

Welcome to the Quality Assurance/Science Activity Centre – Americas (QA/SAC-Americas), one of five QA/SACs operating to ensure data quality and support science activities in the World Meteorological Organization Global Atmosphere Watch (GAW).

The QA/SAC-Americas seeks to document and help improve the quality of precipitation chemistry measurements from around the world. It conducts semi-annual inter-laboratory comparison studies. Graphical and tabular results of past studies are available by accessing Study Results.

Guidance on all aspects of collecting precipitation for chemical analysis is provided in the GAW Guidelines for Precipitation Chemistry and Deposition Measurements.

Visit the World Data Centre for Precipitation Chemistry Website for information about the Global Assessment of Precipitation Chemistry and Deposition.
